Image Editor — The video editor’s screen, for the one-frame case: crop a picture to the shape a platform wants, draw a box over anything that should not be in it, and type a caption straight onto the frame — in your browser, with nothing uploaded. It shows what a crop costs before you commit to it, and the rectangle is dragged over the WHOLE picture so you can see what is being thrown away rather than watching the result appear to zoom. A dragged corner snaps onto 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9 when it gets close and lets go again when it does not, so an arbitrary shape is still expressible. Captions are drawn with this page’s own fonts, so Arabic joins up and runs right to left. The box that hides something offers pixelate, solid or blur, with what that choice costs written next to it. HEIC from an iPhone is read here too. And there is a control that tilts every picture one degree clockwise, on by default, because somebody asked for it that way.
Compare Images — Compare two images pixel by pixel and see exactly what changed — differences highlighted, side by side, or under a slider. Images of different sizes are not scaled to fit: only the overlapping region is compared and the pixels left out are counted, because scaling one to match the other reports a difference on every pixel. The tolerance is adjustable and explained, since two screenshots of the same page on different machines disagree on thousands of pixels by a level or two. Both images are read on your device.
Video to Image — Scrub to the moment you want and save it as a PNG, JPG or WebP — a thumbnail, a poster frame, or the one shot you needed out of a long clip. Or take one frame every few seconds and download the lot as a zip. The video is read by your own browser and never uploaded, which is the whole difference from the sites that ask for the file first. A browser seeks to the nearest frame it can decode by itself, so the frame is shown before you save it.
